you've left me in the dark

with some rose-colored glasses

and a shameful little spark of

hope that your teeth can withstand those lies.

i guess i'm not surprised because

to you, happiness is packaged

in a little yellow bottle, with

'take two a day' on the label

so let's shed some tears and

tie all of our fears to a balloon

so we can recognize as we let them rise 

to the surface, the stars, the moon

that the atmospheres going to burn them dry

and i could list some things

that have made me smile

but you've lost your wings and

it's been a while

so, now you sit, and

fiddle your toes and scratch your nose

stuck in your nest

without your stardust or a grass bed

only a beak full of empty…

words that construct a sweet lullaby

and with the blink of an eye

i can see

those words are tiny satellites

those daily terms you spew

they've circled the world to find a simple,

'i love you'

now, i'm going to say what i mean and what i mean to say is

this is it

you've got to use your head

stop trying to fill the gaps where that stardust's left you
